E o mais possante gladiador de Roma.
E qual mais pronto, e qual mais presto assoma
Nenhum pôde domar o prisioneiro.

Meu coração triunfava nas arenas.
Veio depois um domador de hienas
E outro mais, e, por fim, veio um atleta,

Vieram todos, por fim; ao todo, uns cem…
E não pôde domá-lo, enfim, ninguém,
Que ninguém doma um coração de poeta!
